Information on the Reef!! 

The Great Barrier Reef is located on the North-East coast of Australia. It is the Biggest Coral reef ecosystem in the whole world!!! The Great Barrier Reef was declared a World Heritage Site area in 1981 and it was also added to the National Heritage list in 2007. 

 There are 3 different types of reefs they are:

·         Fringing Reef

·         Barrier Reef

·         Lagoon Reef

But the Great Barrier Reef is considered as a Barrier reef because it grows a couple of meters before the shore before coming closer to the surface.

  The Great Barrier Reef is scattered in-between the beautiful islands off the cost of Queensland and its magnificent coral  beds cover nearly 300,000 square kilometres. The Great Barrier Reef consists of more than 3000reefs and is home to almost 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusks.
